Review: Soleil Tan de Chanel Illuminating Fluid

Soleil Tan de Chanel Sheer Illuminating Fluid “Sunkissed” | $54 CAD

What it is: A liquid highlighter/illuminator that gives “a subtle sunkissed effect” (Chanel.com).

Review:

This liquid highlighter from Chanel does exactly what it says it does: it gives you a subtle, natural-looking glow without any fuss or mess. This is a liquid highlighter for those who don’t want tons of glitter and sparkle.

I love this product. It looks gorgeous on and it’s not over the top. I can wear it out on casual days or wear it to work. Most importantly, I can wear it alone (just with a moisturizer) and it looks great.

I won’t discuss the price too much — it is Chanel. That said, I think you get a generous amount of product. It has lasted me a very long time (longer than I care to admit…yes, I use products way past the “12 MO” label). You do not need much product at all to achieve a visible glow.

How to use:

Be sure to shake before applying. This product is slightly buildable if you want a brighter glow, but for the most part it’s quite subtle.

You can mix it with your foundation, apply it to your cheekbones, wear it alone, etc. Try mixing it with your moisturizer for a brighter complexion on the more natural (or lazy) days.

I know it’s said often but, it’s true: a little bit goes a long way. You really do not need much at all. While it is a liquid, it’s not super runny so it won’t cause a mess; it’s actually got a nice creamy texture to it.

Overall, a great product from Chanel that I would repurchase.

  1. Wow, this liquid highlighter is absolutely stunning! The shade looks perfect for summer, too. I think I need to put it on my wishlist now…

You know, $53 is less than I was expecting for Chanel haha. It’s not QUITE a comparable product, but I’m currently using the Becca Backlight Priming Filter which I also sometimes use on its own as well, and that’s only $3 cheaper for the same volume.
