Herbivore Moon Fruit Super Fruit Night Treatment (50ml)
This night cream/treatment from Herbivore claims to hydrate and exfoliate your skin gently overnight, and works without added fragrance (although it does have a sort of natural fruity/earthy scent).
And I love it.
Overall, the ingredient composition is great! It’s a certified Clean product at Sephora, meaning that it is free of stuff like parabens, sulfates, phthalates, etc.
It includes aloe leaf juice (naturally contains salicylic acid), hyaluronic acid, kokum and shea butter for hydration, and for exfoliation, there are fruit enzymes (BHA’s and AHA’s). The only sketchy thing is that it does contain alcohol which may irritate sensitive skin.
I keep it in the fridge to keep it fresh, and encourage you to do so as well as the cream does not contain added preservatives. It also does not contain synthetic color stabilizers so the surface color may change to pink/beige, which is totally fine!
How to Use
I use this as a night cream after toning and adding serums and find that it sinks in quite nicely. When I feel extra dry I apply a regular moisturizer first, and then add Moon Fruit later in the night. A little bit really goes a long way. Because of this, the product should last a long time.
The only thing I would caution against is layering Moon Fruit on top of serums or oils too early for risk of pilling (shredded little pieces rolling off your skin). I put Moon Fruit on top of both my hyaluronic acid and niacinamide and zinc serums too soon and had a lot of pilling.
Pay attention to the way you layer, and try to alter as necessary.
What I do to avoid pilling is simply give it time; if I absolutely must use my serums, I don’t add Moon Fruit on top until at least 10-20 minutes later, or when I know my other products are absorbed and won’t get in the way.
Moon Fruit is an amazing product that literally produces results overnight. It provides moisture, yet it also smooths your skin and blurs the look of pores. When I wake up the next day, my skin is glowing, so smooth, and of course, very soft.
The best part: Moon Fruit significantly diminishes, and in some cases, clears, my minor breakouts and blemishes overnight. I guess it makes sense as the Aloe contains salicylic acid, but I didn’t think the results would come so quickly. It works faster and better than any salicylic acid serum or treatment I’ve tried.
Overall, it’s a fantastic night cream. If you find you’re extra dry, you may need a regular moisturizer first before applying this as more of a treatment.
Despite the price tag, I would invest in this product again given its ingredients and the immediate results.
